"Ro Gooch aka “Ro The Barber” is the dopest barber in The City y’all. Look no further, that’s my pick, that’s my MVP, all hail the people’s champ, baby. They’ve been in San Francisco for about a year now and they’ve already made a major splash in the city - we love to see a superstar in the making and that’s exactly what they are - a superstar. Since their arrival, Ro has cut hair in a commercial for the Golden State Valkyries, they’ve been on the news cutting hair, they cut hair live at Outside Lands this year, and most importantly they’re one of the flagship founding barbers at The Barb Shop in Bernal Heights - my personal favorite place to get me hairs chopped. I’m so stoked to have Ro on this episode of BEDROOM, their energy is intoxicating, they’re such a phenom of inspiration, and they’re honestly just a joy to be around. Personally, Ro for me was one of those instant connection kind of friend and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it was all thanks to social media. In an age where everyone is harping on the bad side of social media - which, I get it, it’s absolutely insane out there and I agree with how toxic it can be - but there is always a yin to the yang and Ro the Pro to the Con. Their online presence is a beacon of positivity and light on the gram. Their content is fun and engaging and I really feel like San Francisco scored with Ro. My thought? I feel like they’re going to be the next big online star to take over the algorithm and it’s only a matter of time. Snip snip y’all! That.

In this episode of BEDROOM™, Ro The Barber dishes their back story of how they found themselves behind the chair. We take the journey from South Lake Tahoe to Portland to The City. We talk about inclusivity, gender affirming hair cuts, comfortability, mental health, and we dish out lots of laughs. Ro shares about an upcoming book they’re working on and we go behind the scenes with Ro and talk about all of the intersections of their creative life.

From there we tap into some listener-submitted questions - one from Angela Zajic, bridal and event hair stylist and Sheena, the found of The Barb.
