Welcome to today’s Bible study.
In this episode of 2 Samuel 15 (KJV), we continue our verse-by-verse journey through the book of 2 Samuel as Absalom secretly builds support and leads a rebellion against his father, King David. This chapter highlights betrayal, loyalty, humility, trusting God's sovereignty, and remaining faithful during times of crisis.
The chapter begins with Absalom positioning himself at the city gate, winning the hearts of the people of Israel through deception and false promises. After gaining support for several years, he declares himself king in Hebron and begins a rebellion against David.
As the rebellion grows, David chooses to flee Jerusalem rather than allow the city to be destroyed in battle. Many of his servants remain loyal to him, while others join Absalom. David humbly submits to God's will, trusting that the Lord will show him mercy and restore him if it is His purpose.
Through this chapter, we see key lessons about the dangers of pride and deception, the value of faithful loyalty, humility during hardship, and trusting God's sovereign plan when circumstances suddenly change.
