- The suit had been in the water for nine days and traveled twelve miles to reach those pilings.
- Diane Webb was 22 years old and had eight trips aboard the Carla M on the Morrow-to-Kessler Island run.
- The Carla M cleared Morrow Island harbor at 7:45 AM; the mast came down at 8:25 AM when a tack caused the main boom to swing hard.
- By early afternoon the stern seam opened, Dennis Holt went into the water during raft deployment and did not surface; Diane and Chris were in the raft with limited supplies (two liters of water, four energy bars, a compass, handful of flares).
