The driveshaft pin that jammed a tow bar exposed his lie
In this episode, we follow the moments and physical evidence that linked Melvin Quinn to Harlo Township the night Megan Harris disappeared and the steps investigators took to read those traces. What questions did a fuel receipt, a driveshaft pin and a misplaced glove leave on the road?
Date: May 1-3, 2024
Person: Megan Harris; Melvin Quinn; Holly Lane; Detective Cynthia Sheridan; Patrice Odom
Location: County Road 7; Kettle Lanes; Harlo Township; Harlo Township Co-op
Event: disappearance; road grading; fuel purchase
Item: fuel card receipt; driveshaft pin; bowling glove; dollar-store spiral notebook
- Holly Lane, a nine-year grader operator, found a bowling-gloved hand under the road during spring grading on County Road 7.
- Megan Harris left Kettle Lanes at ~9:45 p.m. on May 1 and was last seen walking to her car; her hood was later found up with the car otherwise functional.
- Melvin Quinn reported a rig breakdown 12 miles away but a 9:51 p.m. diesel charge on his fuel card placed him two blocks from Kettle Lanes.
- Investigators recovered a driveshaft pin on the CR-7 shoulder and noted it could match farm hauling equipment like Quinn’s combine rig.
- Routine behaviors-Megan’s weekly bowling, her notebook ritual, and Holly’s familiar grading route-became key reference points as detectives mapped time, place, and physical traces.
