Jason Wilde joins Jen, Gabe & Chewy after the Packers’ 35-14 loss to Atlanta, and there’s no dancing around the biggest problem. Wilde says he has never covered a Packers offensive line this bad, and questions how Green Bay can function offensively when it can’t consistently execute even the fundamentals up front. The protection has become so poor that the Packers may have to rethink their entire offensive approach just to keep Jordan Love upright. The guys also discuss Jagger Burton’s rough night and whether the rookie is physically ready to handle NFL defensive linemen. Even after spending weeks wondering why Burton wasn’t playing, Wilde acknowledges the performance showed why Green Bay may have been hesitant. And the problems aren’t isolated to the line: Tucker Kraft and Matthew Golden added costly drops on a night where the offense needed virtually everything else to be perfect. Finally, Wilde explains why this 1-2 start feels different from previous Packers teams that recovered from early struggles. The 2014 team had Aaron Rodgers and an elite offensive line to fall back on. This group doesn’t have that foundation. Green Bay has now allowed 38 quick pressures through three games, nearly three times its previous high through three games since Love became the starter, leaving Wilde with very little to point toward as an obvious reason the offense will suddenly turn around.
