  • The Family Medicine: Violette Nozière and the Crime That Split Paris
    Oct 8 2026

In Paris in 1933, an eighteen-year-old girl fed her parents a lethal dose of sleeping powder, told them it was medicine from their doctor, and went dancing. Her father died. Her mother survived by spitting half of it out. What followed was a manhunt, a trial that gripped a nation, and an accusation so shocking the newspapers of the day refused to print the word for it. The surrealists rushed a book of poems to her defence. Three heads of state would eventually pardon her. Nobody has ever proven whether she was telling the truth.

This is the case of Violette Nozière: a story about class, family, and who gets believed.

  • The Carnival Killing: Who Murdered Stine Geisler?
    Oct 1 2026

Copenhagen, Whitsun 1990. While thousands celebrate at the city's annual carnival, eighteen-year-old Stine Geisler cycles home through streets she's known her whole life, and never arrives. The next evening, her body is found in a basement eighty metres from her front door: bound, gagged, and marked in ways investigators still can't fully explain.

Thirty-five officers. Nearly 4,000 interviews. A city gripped by fear as a cluster of unsolved murders unfolds around her in the same few months. And yet, over three decades on, no one has ever been charged.

In this episode of Euro Noir, we trace Stine's life and final night, the strange details left at the crime scene, the parade of suspects who've circled the case for a generation, and the convicted killer whose name keeps resurfacing: the Amager Man. We weigh the evidence, flag the speculation as speculation, and ask why one of Denmark's most haunting cold cases has never been laid to rest.
