  • What the Body Remembers When the Mind Forgets

You've done the work. You've read the books, said the affirmations, sat in the therapy, learned to talk yourself down off the ledge. So why does the wound still not move?

In this episode — the opening of Movement Two of Season One — Coach Afi G reveals the answer that changes everything: you cannot think your way out of what was never installed through thinking. The deepest wounds we carry don't live in the mind. They live in the body.

Through vivid, real-life portraits, Afi G shows how trauma actually hides in the body.

This is a teaching about why the affirmations bounce off, why insight alone doesn't free us, and what it truly takes to convince the body that the war is over.

  • When You Can't Believe Your Own Voice: The Wound Beneath the Affirmation

She's been in therapy since she was fourteen. She's in her late forties now. She knows how to regulate herself, talk herself off the ledge, and tell herself she deserves love, peace, and a good life. But when she lies down at night, she doesn't believe a single word of it.

In this special episode, drawn from a private client session and shared with permission, Coach Afi G explores the wound beneath the affirmation. Why does self-talk bounce off? Why can someone do everything "right" for thirty years and still not believe their own voice?

Afi unpacks what's really happening: why the belief you're reaching for was written into the body before you had words, why it collapses hardest at night, and why the disbelief isn't a malfunction, it's a protector. He walks through why a wound about being lovable is relational and can't heal in solitude, how ungrieved grief keeps the old story in place, and how inherited "echo wounds" can make someone else's survival strategy feel like your most personal truth.

This one is for anyone who has done all the work and still couldn't believe they were lovable. The belief comes last. The experience comes first.

What you carry, you can transform. Your lineage is your medicine. Àṣẹ. Ashé.

This episode includes discussion of suicidal thinking, abuse, and grief. Please listen with care.

  • The Three Shadows — Ancestral, Compressed & Sediment
    Jun 13 2026

Why do we carry what we never chose? In this episode, Afi G teaches the framework at the heart of this entire podcast — the three shadows we inherit, and how to finally recognize what we've been carrying our whole lives without language for it.

Drawing from over 25 years of ancestral healing practice, Afro-Diasporic spiritual tradition, and the science of epigenetics, Afi G introduces the Ancestral Shadow, the Sediment Shadow, and the Compressed Shadow — and shares a deeply personal story about the cost of being unable to ask for help, a wound he traces back through generations to the historical roots of mistrust in Black, Afro-Diasporic, and Latino communities.

This is the episode that gives you a new way to understand your patterns, your reactions, and your story — not as character flaws, but as inheritance. And inheritance can be transformed.

You are not broken. You are compressed.

  • Why We Carry What We Never Chose
    Jun 9 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

What does it mean to carry what you never chose? In this inaugural episode, Coach Afi G opens the conversation that this entire podcast was built around — why we carry the patterns, wounds, and silences of our lineage, and what becomes possible when we finally turn toward them with intention.

Drawing from over 25years of ancestral healing practice, Afro-Diasporic spiritual tradition, and the science of epigenetics, Coach Afi G shares the moment early in his career that made this work undeniable — and introduces the central framework that will guide this entire season.

This episode is for Black and Afro-Diasporic communities, for Latino and Latine communities, and for anyone who has ever felt the weight of what their family couldn't say out loud.

What your ancestors couldn't finish — you can.
