Sometimes, if not in most cases, what stops us from doing what we plan (chasing our dreams, launching that project, picking up that registration form, signing up for that programme) is perfectionist inertia.
The online Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines inertia as "the inherent property of a body that makes it oppose any force that would cause a change in its motion."
In simpler terms, when something is at rest and you try to move it, you experience resistance, slight or significant, depending on what you are dealing with. Inertia is also at work when something is in motion and you want to change its direction.
We all experience this at different levels, stages, and moments of our lives. You find it difficult to start something, or you struggle with it before eventually doing it or giving up.
Inertia comes in different shades. Mine was a perfectionist shade, and I experienced it while making this episode.
Listen to find out how I broke my inertia.
