This trails into a conversation about external validation, the false stories we tell ourselves, becoming risk averse, late 90's and early 2000's television, censorship, the terrifying impact poorly managed media consumption may be having on the minds of our children, and eventually circles back around to how our confidence showing up authentically in the world is connected to our tendency to project our fears and assumptions onto situations and relationships.
- This entire episode is actually a great follow-up to the one I released yesterday, where the sociologic idea of "the looking glass self" was brought up in conversation. It's kind of crazy how so many things recently seem to be lining up in strange ways.
