Getting accused of stealing after you already paid hits different, especially when you’re holding the receipt and they won’t even look at it. I’m DJ Mikey D, and I’m taking a break from the music to tell you what happened to me at a grocery store in Littleton, Colorado and why it’s a clear example of modern day racism and retail profiling that too many people recognize instantly. What should have been a quick self checkout run turned into a security chase, a confrontation, and a public moment of humiliation that never had to happen.

I also dig into what made it worse: the refusal to offer accountability, the way truth stopped mattering, and the realization that my experience wasn’t isolated. Afterward, I checked Google Reviews and found similar stories of customers being followed, profiled, and harassed at the same store. That’s when the conversation shifts from one ugly incident to a bigger question about systems, culture, and why discrimination in stores keeps repeating when nobody documents it and nobody pushes it up the chain.

You’ll hear my take on how subtle racism works, why it’s often psychological instead of physical, and what we can do that actually creates consequences. I lay out a simple response plan: document everything, record if it’s safe, capture names and times, report to corporate headquarters, and leave clear public reviews so the community knows what’s happening. If a business targets customers based on skin color, it shouldn’t get the community’s dollars.

If this resonates, subscribe, share this with someone who needs it, and leave a review with your thoughts. What’s the most effective way you’ve seen people hold a business accountable?

We call out how people living in vans, hotels, and other nontraditional setups get wrongly denied voter registration for not having a “permanent address.” We break down what Colorado law says about residency, then share a simple plan to push back and get registered anyway.
• Miguel’s van life story and the DMV denial
• how the “no mailbox, no ballot” mindset blocks democracy
• Colorado residency rules based on where you live and intend to stay
• using a mailing address like a PO box, friend, or shelter for your ballot
• what to do when a clerk says no, including asking for a supervisor
• registering online at GoVoteColorado.gov
• CRS 1-2-102 as a key reference point
• Election Protection Hotline 866-OUR-VOTE for support

Share this with someone who needs to hear it. Keep your heads up and go register.

• political burnout and why local action feels real
• nonprofits as the community “third place” across divides
• donor connection and trust rebuilding through tangible impact
• the triple impact of support: agility, policy influence, empowerment
• rising costs, the digital divide, and why 2026 is an inflection point
• a personal story of getting help through veteran services and the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless. Visit ColoradoCoalition.org to donate.
