• The People Christ Has in The City - Acts 18:9-10, I Corinthians 1:1-9, 26-31 - October 18, 2026
    Oct 19 2026

In Acts 18 Christ said that he has his people in the city of Corinth. When we read 1 Corinthians we see the kind of people who are Christ’s. Human values like wealth, power, and intelligence are not contributing factors to being called by Christ to salvation. Those who Christ saves he calls into the fellowship of his church. Today, we gain much encouragement and instruction as Christ’s people in our city.

  • Receive The Word - Acts 17:1-9, 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10 - September 20, 2026
    Sep 21 2026

As in other cities where the gospel was first preached by Paul and his mission team, many people in the city of Thessalonica believed in Jesus as Messiah and confessed him as Lord. What stands out about these new believers is that they received the gospel in much tribulation and with great joy. Today, from the account of the mission in this city, and from Paul’s letter to the church in there, we are encouraged to open our hearts to God’s word by faith and to be changed by it.

Grace Community Church exists to build spiritually healthy people for ministry in the world. One of the ways that we pursue this mission is by gathering each Sunday for corporate worship, prayer, and biblical teaching. The corporate nature of this gathering is both edifying to the believer and a witness of God’s grace to the world. Sermon speaker is Scott Patty unless otherwise noted.

  • The Mind that Receives the Word - Acts 17:10-15 - September 27, 2026
    Sep 28 2026

While the word of God stands alone in its truthfulness, authority, and effectiveness to save, still it must be received by faith. In this account of the word of God coming to Berea, we see the kind of mind that receives it and is blessed by it. The noble mind is humble enough to listen, engaged enough to search, and honest enough to acknowledge the truth without bias. The noble-minded person receives the word of God and gains Christ. Today, as we hear the word, let us open the mind of our hearts and be blessed.

  • Christ Has His People in the City - Acts 18:1-18 - October 11, 2026
    Oct 12 2026

The Lord made a twofold promise to Paul concerning his ministry in the city of Corinth. He promised to be with Paul to protect him, and he said he has many people in the city. Based on these promises, the Lord also gave Paul dual commands not to fear, but to continue to speak the word. The presence and power of Christ to save people is the confidence we have to persevere in gospel ministry to make disciples in our city.

  • Responding to the Word - Acts 17:15-34 - October 4, 2026
    Oct 5 2026

Acts 17 concludes with Paul bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ to Athens, a city filled with idols and competing ideas about what is true and how to live. Paul does not retreat from the world or become like it. He has received the Word, so he moves toward the people of Athens with the truth of the gospel. Today we will see how the Word stirs us toward the lost, separates us from the world, secures us in the truth, and saves in a broken world, calling us to respond to God’s Word with faithful obedience and trust in God’s work.

  • How Christ Helps Us - Acts 16 - September 6, 2026
    Sep 15 2026

Paul and Silas were asked to “come over to Macedonia and help us.” They did, by preaching the gospel of Christ. Christ is our help. He alone can open our minds to understand the gospel, deliver us from spiritual darkness, and rightly order our priorities for his Lordship. Those who are helped by him become his church in every city. And every city is helped by a congregation that lives for Christ.
