God never designed you to live exhausted or driven by the endless demand to produce. From the beginning, He established the Sabbath as a holy rhythm—a day to stop striving, remember His goodness, and encounter His presence. While culture measures your worth by what you produce, the Sabbath offers a better way: encountering God’s presence through rest so you can carry it through the rest of the week. Ceasing work is an act of faith to reflect on His faithfulness in your life. Sabbath isn’t simply a day off; it is a day given to the Lord to cultivate life in your soul so that life can flow into your city. When we learn to steward and carry His presence by surrendering our time to God, He breathes life into us, blessing our efforts to flourish and multiply.

The Biblical call to parents is to raise children who are grateful for God’s abundance rather than entitled by it, remembering that every good gift comes from Him. Through clear responsibilities, meaningful choices, and the weight of outcomes, we help our children develop maturity and confidence in their identity. We teach them that contributing to the family, serving others, and being faithful in secret matter to God. Ultimately, parenting is about more than managing chores or correcting behavior; it is about shaping hearts and relationships. Loving discipline, rooted in connection rather than anger or punishment, teaches self-control, wisdom, and accountability. Just as our heavenly Father disciplines those He loves, we discipline our children to help them grow into mature, responsible adults who walk humbly with God.

The three marks of a disciple are: strengthen yourself in the LORD, manage your household, and fill your city with Jesus. We’ve been looking at managing our household like a GREENHOUSE. In Ephesians 6:1–4, Paul addresses both children and parents and their responsibilities toward one another. Parenting is a temporary assignment designed to prepare our children to encounter the LORD—that’s why we call it substitute parenting. The goal isn’t simply for them to listen to us, but to know their heavenly Father. Like a greenhouse, the home is where children are cultivated, protected, and prepared for what is beyond it. Parents, you have been given a short and sacred window in which to form the life God has entrusted to you. Find the gold. Protect what is pure. Confront the folly. And make your home a place where your children can see, hear, and experience something of what their Father in heaven is like.
