Episode Summary

Before asking who should fix society, Christians need to ask who designed it. This episode introduces the biblical framework behind the family, the church, and government. Each institution exists under God’s authority, each carries a distinct responsibility, and each becomes distorted when it abandons its work or attempts to absorb the work of the others. The family forms and cares for people, the church makes disciples and serves those in need, and government restrains wrongdoing and administers public justice. The episode also explains why institutional authority is never unlimited and why our first allegiance belongs to God. Listeners are challenged to stop beginning only with what Washington, church leaders, or other families should do and instead identify the responsibility God has placed directly in front of them.
