Gird Up Your Loins is a podcast for ordinary Christian men who want to become the kind of men their wives respect, their children remember, and their churches depend on.

I'm a small-town pastor, husband, dad, baseball coach, and blue-collar guy at heart. Every week we'll sit down over coffee and talk about the things that actually matter—Scripture, theology, fatherhood, marriage, work, books worth reading, church history, and the everyday moments God uses to shape ordinary men into faithful ones.

Some weeks we'll laugh at ourselves.

Some weeks we'll get punched in the gut by God's Word.

Most weeks it'll be both.

No hype. No celebrity Christianity. No pretending we've got it all figured out.

Just honest conversations about becoming the kind of men who work hard, repent quickly, love their families well, and follow Christ with grit and joy.

So grab a cup of coffee, climb in the truck, or put on your work boots.

    In this first episode of Gird Up Your Loins, we open to 1 Timothy 4:16 and wrestle with Paul's command to "keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching." Before we can faithfully lead our families, we must first learn to shepherd our own hearts.

    Along the way we'll unpack the doctrine of sanctification in plain English, learn from the wisdom of the Puritan pastor John Owen, dust off one of the greatest Christian books ever written—Pilgrim's Progress—and I'll leave you with one simple challenge to put your faith into practice this week.

    We'll also kick off a brand-new segment called Tonight's Conversation, where I'll give you one meaningful question to ask your wife to help you know and love her more deeply.

    This week's question:

    "What have I done lately that has made you feel especially loved...and why?"
