  • Klara and the Sun

Klara and the Sun is a fantastic, moving surprise: a deceptively simple story that opens up into something far more complex, and one of the most heartfelt films of the year. Taika Waititi, Kazuo Ishiguro's source material, and Jenna Ortega come together exactly the way you'd hope, and the result is charming, empathetic, and quietly powerful, with a thread of faith running through it that pulls you in rather than pushing you away.

"This movie feels like a perfect marriage of director, material, and leading actress."

"It's fueled by an unbelievable superpower known as Jenna Ortega. She's absolutely empathy incarnate."

Press play for the full 1er™ on why Klara and the Sun deserves your opening weekend, and why it might be the film that wins back anyone who's grown tired of Waititi.

  • Digger
    Oct 15 2026

Digger has been one of the most divisive films of the year, so Robbie waited until he'd seen it twice, once on a CineXL screen and once in IMAX, before weighing in. The first half is spoiler-free: why Alejandro G. Iñárritu and Tom Cruise make one of the most ambitious pairings ever put on screen, why Riz Ahmed anchors both the drama and the comedy, and why the "all noise, nothing to say" complaint misses the point.

Then Robbie counts down into spoiler territory, so if you haven't seen it yet, that's your cue to hit pause. The verdict is ambitious, audacious, chaotic and frustrating by design. It's Cruise's best work since Magnolia, and the window to see it in theaters is closing fast.

  • Resident Evil

Robbie's back with his full take on Zach Cregger's Resident Evil after catching it at a packed early screening in Phoenix — and letting it sit for a week. Spoiler: it stuck with him. He digs into why Austin Abrams' Bryan is the perfect lovable-loser vessel for a video game movie, the practical-effects-meets-CG trick behind the monster designs, and why sitting in a room full of primed, ready-to-go fans turned a very good movie into an electric one.

Also covered: the Paul Walter Hauser cameo that got the biggest laugh in the theater, a Blank Check-worthy mumbling-and-muttering performance, and why this one made $60 million opening weekend but still isn't a unanimous win with the hardcore game crowd.
