  • Grounding Through Grief with Nature and the Body with Cat Capowski
    Oct 21 2026

What if nature itself could be your co-therapist in grief? In this episode of the GRIEF Ladies Podcast, clinical social worker, yoga and qigong teacher, and eco-psychologist Cat Capowski shares how the natural world offers one of the most powerful and accessible paths to grounding and healing after loss.

Nature teaches us that grief and loss are part of the natural order — and that from them can emerge growth, renewal, and new beginnings. Winter stillness mirrors the quiet of grief, while spring's return shows that growth can emerge from what we endured. Trees shed their leaves without resistance. A river carries and moves what it cannot hold. Nature shows us that holding onto the past is not necessary for moving forward.

Cat walks through nature-based therapy, also known as eco-psychology, and how the relationship between our internal landscape — the mind, emotions, and nervous system — and the external living world serves as a primary engine for healing. She shares how to create impermanent earth altars and nature-based rituals that anchor grief in meaning, why qigong and gentle movement help release what the body is holding, and simple practices anyone can do even in the darkest winter months when getting outside feels impossible.

Plus: the story of Cat's dad, her hiking buddy, and the hiking boots she wore as a pallbearer to carry him one last time.

Guest Bio: Cat Capowski of Catalyst Mindfulness is a clinical social worker, a yoga and Qi gong teacher and an Ayurvedic Mental Health and Wellness Coach. She is certified in Eco psychology, and has spent more than three decades working as a social worker and psychotherapist , supporting individuals, groups, and family systems through healing, transition, recovery, and personal growth.
Cat's personal practice of yoga, Qi Gong, meditation, mindfulness and Nature based healing deeply informs both her life and her work. For many years, Cat has integrated mind-body practices helping clients to regulate their nervous systems, cultivate resilience, and develop sustainable tools for stress management and emotional well-being.

  • How Nature and Gardening Can Help You Heal After Loss with Heather Jerrard
    Oct 14 2026

Grief can leave you feeling completely untethered, from yourself, from your life, and from your sense of purpose. In this episode, landscape designer, entrepreneur, and podcast host Heather Jerrard shares how nature, gardening, and getting your hands in the soil can be one of the most powerful and accessible tools for healing after loss.

Heather opens up about her own experience of disenfranchised grief, the loss of her job, her identity, and everything she had worked toward and how that unexpected loss eventually became the catalyst for building something entirely her own. She also talks about memorial gardens, the healing art of scattering gardens, the therapeutic benefits of grounding barefoot in the grass for just twenty minutes, and why speaking out loud to your loved one in the garden might be exactly what you need.

Plus: the story of Aunt Hattie, a fire opal ring that turned out to be citrine, and what it means to carry the best of someone with you after they are gone.

Guest Bio: "Heather owns and operates a Landscape Design firm out of London, Ontario – "My Landscape Artist" and also hosts the podcast "Hops and Hedges".

Her passion and enthusiasm for people and plants are undeniable!

She has studied Landscape Design at Fanshawe College, Garden History in Italy & Spain, worked at a design firm in Cairo, Egypt, lived in India, and volunteered in Haiti. She started her business during the pandemic in 2020 and hasn't looked back.

Now she teaches, designs, builds gardens, and speaks virtually/in person all over Ontario - and one day - the world!"

  • The Grief of Estrangement: Energy, Attachment, and Healing with Chris Wasko
    Oct 7 2026

Estrangement is one of the most misunderstood and isolating grief experiences there is — because you're mourning someone who is still alive. In this episode, spiritual counselor, energy healer, and psychic medium Chris Wasko shares what estrangement actually looks like from an energetic standpoint, why cutting ties with family is never as clean as it sounds, and how the cords we form with the people closest to us don't just disappear when we walk away.

Chris draws on her own experience of estranging from both parents after years of physical and emotional abuse, and explains how grief shows up in the body's energy system — in the heart, the solar plexus, and the root chakra — and what somatic practices like breathwork, tapping, and movement can do to help shift what feels stuck. She also talks about how to remember loved ones at their best, and why movement plus experience equals progression.

Guest Bio: Chris Wasko is a spiritual counselor, energy healer, and psychic medium who specializes in trauma recovery and nervous system regulation. She is the author of An Old Soul's Journey and the creator of Spicy Old Souls®, a program for deep-level soul healing. Chris specializes in reading the chakra system and listening to the story the body wants to share.
