Unforgiveness is one of the most common forms of bondage people carry, and it quietly steals the freedom that Christ has already paid for. True forgiveness, in the biblical sense, means releasing a debt completely, not because the other person deserves it, but as an act of love, mercy, and grace. God has already forgiven us through Jesus Christ, canceling every sin on our record and wiping the slate completely clean. When we refuse to forgive ourselves, we agree with condemnation rather than walking in the freedom God intends for us. Holding onto offense toward others causes bitterness, emotional pain, and can even block the flow of God's grace in our lives. Forgiveness does not mean excusing wrong behavior or automatically restoring a broken relationship, but it does mean releasing judgment to God. Jesus modeled this perfectly, forgiving those who crucified Him even in His greatest moment of suffering. Freedom is available, Christ already paid for it, and the only question is whether we will choose to walk in it.
