For first generation Black British audiences, Meet the Adebanjos is a sitcom that felt like home and Andrew Osayemi, the creator behind it, is the reason it exists.

Andrew saw something nobody else in British television was willing to make; a sitcom that captured African British life in all its warmth, complexity and brilliance. No watering down. No becoming palatable for someone else's comfort. Just the Adebanjos, fully and unapologetically themselves.

In this episode Andrew opens up about the hustle behind building something this bold on his own terms, the craft of portraying African British culture with genuine nuance and the journey from a singular creative vision to a legacy that's still growing. From the realities of independent Black British filmmaking to what it actually takes to tell a first generation story with zero compromise.

If you've ever watched a British sitcom and never quite seen your family in it, this episode is for you.

For the culture isn't just a phrase. For We Are Parable, it's always been a business model.

In this episode of Flip the Script, we sit down with Anthony Andrews, o-founder of multi award-winning company We Are Parable, to talk about what Black film looks like when Black people control the experience.

What started as a series of local screenings built around community and a genuine love of Black cinema has grown into one of the most important companies in the Black British creative space. We get into how that journey happened, what it really takes to build infrastructure for Black film from the ground up, and how We Are Parable collaborate with commercial partners without ever losing the community at the heart of it all. We also dig into the Momentum Programme — their groundbreaking initiative in partnership with Sony and Channel 4 — and why it's one of the most important things happening in Black British film right now.

This is a conversation about ownership, community and what happens when you stop waiting for the industry to catch up.
