Salt and Light: Is Your Faith Visible? | Matthew 5:13-16 Sermon | Sermon on the Mount Episode 2

Is your faith visible to the people closest to you? In this powerful Gospel sermon on Matthew 5:13-16, Evangelist Dr. Gabriel Oluwakotanmi of Faith Wallet Global Gospel Ministries explains what Jesus meant when He said, "You are the salt of the earth" and "You are the light of the world." Life runs on expectations. We expect a light bulb to shine and food to carry flavor, so what does Jesus Christ expect from you? In this message you will discover why Jesus called His followers salt and not sugar, what it means for salt to lose its saltiness, and why the greatest threat to the Christian is not persecution from outside but losing our distinctiveness in a decaying world. As Jesus said in Matthew 5:13, "If the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?"

You will also learn how to be the light of the world through the picture of a city on a hill that cannot be hidden and a lamp that must never be placed under a bowl. Many believers hide their faith under the bowl of fear, embarrassment, busyness, and the desire for approval. Jesus calls us to let our light shine before others, that they may see our good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16).

This sermon answers important questions every Christian should ask: How can I be salt and light in my workplace, home, and community? Can my family and coworkers tell that I belong to Jesus? How do good works relate to salvation by grace through faith? The message points every listener to Jesus Christ, the true Light of the world (John 8:12), and invites anyone who has never surrendered to Him to receive His forgiveness today (Romans 10:9).
