  • The History Behind The Monsters- Dustin Runs Solo
    Oct 30 2026

Before they became Hollywood icons and Halloween costumes, monsters were rooted in ancient mythology, terrifying superstitions, and some genuinely disturbing historical events.

This week on the Everyday History Podcast, Dustin takes the microphone solo to uncover the real history behind Frankenstein's monster, vampires, and werewolves.

From ancient Greek legends and brutal werewolf trials to vampire panics that led families to dig up their own dead relatives, we'll explore the beliefs and events that shaped these legendary creatures.

We'll also investigate the connection between Vlad the Impaler and Dracula, the electrical experiments that helped inspire Frankenstein, and the unusual summer that changed horror literature forever.

Along the way, we'll separate historical fact from supernatural folklore and discover how Hollywood reinvented the monsters we recognize today.

Because sometimes, the scariest part of a monster story isn't the monster. It's the history behind it.

  • The Real Doc Holliday
    Oct 16 2026

Everybody knows Doc Holliday. The sharp-tongued gunslinger, the loyal friend of Wyatt Earp, and the tuberculosis-ridden legend who could apparently insult you and shoot you before you knew what happened.

But how much of that is actually true?

This week on Everyday History Podcast, Dustin and Boo Boo head to the Wild West to uncover the real story of John Henry "Doc" Holliday. Before becoming one of the most famous gunfighters in American history, Holliday was a well-educated dentist from Georgia whose battle with tuberculosis sent him west in search of a healthier life.

Instead, he found gambling, gunfights, a turbulent relationship with Big Nose Kate, and a friendship with Wyatt Earp that would put him at the center of the legendary Gunfight at the O.K. Corral.

We'll explore his early life, his reputation as a dangerous gambler, the bloody feud between the Earps and the Cowboys, and his final years in Colorado.

Then we're putting Hollywood on trial. Did Doc really kill Johnny Ringo? Was he responsible for dozens of deaths? How accurate was Val Kilmer's unforgettable performance in Tombstone? And did Doc actually say, "I'm your huckleberry"?

From documented history to outright Hollywood fiction, we're separating the real man from the legend.

So grab a drink, pull up a chair at the poker table, and join Dustin and Boo Boo as we discover The Real Doc Holliday.

  • Billy The Kid | Dustin Rides Solo
    Oct 8 2026

Boo Boo has to work this week, so Dustin is riding solo into the Wild West to uncover the real story behind one of America's most legendary outlaws: Billy the Kid.

Was Billy really the ruthless gunslinger who killed 21 men before his 21st birthday? Was he a misunderstood outlaw fighting against corruption, or just a young criminal who became famous for all the wrong reasons?

In this episode of the Everyday History Podcast, Dustin dives into the life of Henry McCarty, better known as Billy the Kid. From his troubled childhood and involvement in the bloody Lincoln County War to his infamous jailbreak, deadly encounter with Sheriff Pat Garrett, and the wild conspiracy theories surrounding his death, we're separating historical fact from Hollywood fiction.

We'll also explore how a teenage cattle thief became one of the most recognizable figures in American history and why his legend continues to grow nearly 150 years after his death.

So saddle up, pour yourself a drink, and join Dustin for a trip back to the lawless days of the American frontier.

Was Billy the Kid a cold-blooded killer, a misunderstood folk hero, or something in between? Let us know in the comments!
