In today's Brain Squeeze episode, let me rant real quick about my apartment, because we've all been there before lol. Then we get into the juice—Filmmaker Ava DuVernay says Hollywood is over, pointing to new ways people in the media industry can build wealth independently. And lately, I’ve been seeing this shift everywhere — from creators like Druski, who is reportedly set to host SNL in early November, to Kalan Allen’s new digital talk show concept, to the Black women founders behind beverage brand Sensori. More and more, creators are finding ways to turn their audiences into businesses, building independent platforms and finding new ways to get paid without relying on traditional gatekeepers. The power is shifting into creators’ hands, and they’re figuring out how to make it work. But it does make me wonder: How sustainable is this model? With more creators competing for our attention and consumers becoming more intentional about how they spend their money, can the creator economy continue to grow? Or will the well eventually run dry? Let’s get into these juicy thoughts!
