  • How to Spot False Teaching (Even When It Sounds Biblical)
    Oct 21 2026

If a pastor or author you trusted said something wildly unbiblical, you’d probably catch it.

But what about false teaching that’s only a little bit off? A verse pulled slightly out of context, a saying you’ve heard your whole life, advice that’s almost right?

Those are the ones that slip right past us, because they sound biblical.

I grew up in church (my grandpa was a pastor, and we were there pretty much any time the doors were open), went to Bible college, and did Bible quizzing. So when my mother-in-law politely asked where a few things I believed were actually found in the Bible, my first thought was, bring it on.

That’s not quite how it turned out.

Chances are, you’re hearing about God from more voices than ever: sermon clips, pretty verse graphics, books, podcasts, and well-meaning friends and family. You don’t have to fact-check every word. You just need a radar that notices when something deserves a closer look.

In this episode, we talk about:
    • Six signs a teaching might be a little off, from leaning on one verse to promising more than God actually promised
    • Why a single verse on its own can point you the wrong way (with two verses that seem to say opposite things)
    • Familiar sayings like "God won't give you more than you can handle" that sound like Scripture but aren't
    • How to tell what the Bible actually commands from what's just a cultural expectation
    • What to do when something doesn't sit right: pray, check God's Word, and ask good questions
    • The Sunday a sermon had me ready to walk out of church (and why I never sent that email)

You don’t have to be a Bible scholar to notice when something sounds off. With a little practice, you’ll know when to dig into God’s Word for yourself, ask questions, or gently push back, and you can keep learning from the teachers you love with confidence.

  • Why Bible Reading Feels Like a Chore (and How to Actually Enjoy It)
    Oct 14 2026

Want to read your Bible more, but honestly don't feel like it? You're not alone, and you’re not a bad Christian.

Most of us assume the fix is more of all the things: Print the reading plan, set the alarm, try harder this time. But trying harder doesn’t work.

And it usually isn't a time problem either. (We find time to scroll our phones, after all.)

So if you're a busy Christian mom who never seems to have the motivation to read your Bible, this one's for you.

In this episode, we talk about:

    • Why "every single day, first thing in the morning" isn't a biblical command (yes, I went back and checked)
    • How to figure out what time in Scripture can realistically look like in your season
    • Five common ways we misread the Bible, like treating it as a rule book or an instruction manual, and why each one makes Scripture feel boring
    • What the Bible actually is, and why that makes you want to keep reading
    • A simple, honest prayer for the days you just don't want to
    • What long-distance running (and getting my kids to eat broccoli) taught me about not quitting before it gets good

You don't have to guilt yourself into loving God's Word. Take the pressure off, start small, and give it a little time. The wanting to really does come.

  • How to Raise Kids Who Truly Love Jesus (What the Research Shows)
    Oct 7 2026

Doing the bedtime prayers and church every Sunday, but quietly wondering if any of it will actually stick? You're not alone.

You've probably heard the scary statistics about kids walking away from the faith in college.

But the data shows it starts way sooner, often between ages 13 and 15 (and most parents have no idea it's happening).

So I dug into why kids leave, why some stay, and what actually makes the difference.

In this episode, we talk about:

    • Why doing all the right Christian activities isn't enough on its own (and what matters more)
    • The number one factor in whether kids keep their faith (hint: it starts with you, but not with being perfect)
    • Why your kids need other strong Christian adults in their corner, and why that's good news for you
    • How to connect faith to real life so it's not just a Sunday morning thing
    • Simple ways to help your kids build their own Bible reading and prayer habits without a fight
    • How to handle hard questions and doubts even when you don't have the answers

There are no guarantees, and it's not all on you. But you can give your kids the best possible chance at a faith that's real.
