युद्ध के बाद हुए अश्वमेध यज्ञ हुआ। द्वारका के स्त्री-पुरुषों को बचाते हुए अर्जुन को अपनी कला की क्षति का भान हुआ। गान्धारी के शाप के कारण द्वारका में यदुवंशियों का संहार हो गया और श्रीकृष्ण व बलराम जी अपने परमधाम को चले गए। परीक्षित को हस्तिनापुर का राज्य सौंपकर युधिष्ठिर तथा अन्य पाण्डव ने वनगमन किया। केवल युधिष्ठिर सदेह देवलोक को गए एवं उनके अन्य भाई और द्रौपदी मार्ग में ही यमलोक प्रस्थान कर गए।Ashwamedha Yagya was performed after the war.
