For many people and families, the answer begins with a lot of questions, and a lot of uncertainty. In this episode of The Table, Ian Allan and Rob Hudson are joined by Daniel Soya, a self-advocate and Program Specialist with The Arc of Northern Virginia’s Tech for Independent Living team, and Alyssa Klein, a parent advocate and Development Manager at The Arc of Northern Virginia.
Together, they explore the emotions that come with diagnosis, the expectations we place on people and the ways technology, support, accessibility and opportunity can change what’s possible.
A diagnosis can offer understanding and connection. But it doesn’t tell us how a life will unfold. That part of the story is still being written.
