Episode 5 of the audio journal. This one's about Belgian beer showing up in bars halfway across the world and what it stirs up. A quiet question about roots, about the country I was raised in but never plan to return to, and about what it means to miss a place that doesn't really exist anymore.
I've been living in English for two decades, but lately I've been pulling Flemish and Dutch content back in, just to feel connected to something that doesn't need translating. Some reflection on growing up in the early nineties, when the world moved more slowly, and childhood had more texture.
Not a nostalgia episode exactly, more like sitting with a question I don't have a clean answer to.
