  • Anger Is a Gift: What You Do With It Matters
    Oct 18 2026

What if regulation isn't always about becoming calmer? Sometimes it means becoming steady enough to use the fire intelligently.

In this episode of Empowered Wellness Radio, Jeannie Smith explores the difference between acting from anger and using anger. Through stories ranging from a squirrel stealing one bite from a long-awaited tomato to channeling justified anger into martial-arts training and meaningful business change, she examines how anger can become information, energy, and fuel for constructive action.

Anger can help us recognize a crossed boundary, an unacceptable situation, or a change that is overdue. It does not have to control the decision that follows. When paired with discernment, it can help us speak plainly, strengthen ourselves, change direction, and create something better.

Anger may arrive because of what someone else did. What it becomes next belongs to you.

  • The Weight of What Goes Unsaid: And How the Body Carries That Burden
    Oct 11 2026

What happens when you understand exactly what is happening around you, but the situation does not allow you to say what you really think?

Professionalism, caregiving, family dynamics, difficult relationships, and everyday social situations can all require restraint. Choosing not to speak does not mean honesty has been compromised, but constantly filtering what we say can take effort—and the body may participate in that containment through jaw clenching, tightened shoulders, altered breathing, and other patterns of bracing.

In this episode of Empowered Wellness Radio, Jeannie Smith explores the relationship between restraint and physical tension, drawing from what she regularly observes in her bodywork practice. She also looks at what can help when the moment has passed but the body is still holding on, including movement, tactile release, creative expression, journaling, conversation, counseling, and one particularly satisfying technique involving a bowl of ice cubes and a concrete surface.

The goal is not to say everything that comes to mind. It is to recognize when restraint has served its purpose—and give the mind and body somewhere safe for the remaining energy to go.

Restraint is sometimes necessary. Chronic restraint needs recovery.

  • Let What Helps Count: Gratitude as an Agent of Healing
    Sep 13 2026

Gratitude does not require us to deny what hurts, minimize what is difficult, or pretend that everything happens for a reason. It simply asks us to let what helps count, too.
In this episode of Empowered Wellness Radio, Jeannie explores gratitude as a grounded, embodied practice—not forced positivity. Through everyday moments, treatment-room observations, and a simple practice you can use anywhere, you'll learn how noticing genuine support, comfort, and ease can help widen your experience beyond whatever is demanding your attention.
What is difficult is real. What helps is real, too. Both are allowed to count.
