    For the first episode of Empowered Ability, I sit down with my dad, Charles Russell Merritt, better known as Rusty.

    Dad served in the United States Marine Corps and retired from the U.S. Coast Guard. His career also included working as a sheriff’s deputy in Duplin County, North Carolina, and serving as Chief of Police in his hometown of Kenansville.

    Join us for a father-and-son conversation about his life, his service, and the experiences along the way. I couldn’t think of a better person to help me kick off this podcast.
