Dr Anna Klas, Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology at Deakin University, joins Leah to talk about CodeEndo, an online supportive care program for people living with endometriosis. It was co-designed with people who have the condition and a team of more than 40 experts. Anna also brings her own lived experience: it took almost twenty years for her to be diagnosed.
We talk about why endometriosis is so often dismissed as "just bad periods", how diagnosis works in Australia, why surgery is not a cure, and why the program is built around choice and around believing people's pain. The trial explores whether the program supports health-related quality of life, alongside the medical care people already have.
