Bio

Dr. Forrest Meggers is an Associate Professor of Architecture and the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment at Princeton University, where he also serves as Co-Director of the Architecture and Engineering Program and Co-Chair of the Princeton Sustainability Committee. Since arriving at Princeton in 2013, he has been a key voice in the university’s ambitious effort to move toward a zero-carbon campus by mid-century, using Princeton itself as a “living laboratory” for rethinking how we heat, cool, and power buildings.

He directs the C.H.A.O.S. Lab—short for Cooling and Heating for Architecturally Optimized Systems—where his team experiments with advanced heating and cooling, geothermal and seasonal energy storage, and alternative thermal comfort strategies that challenge conventional HVAC thinking. Before Princeton, Forrest led low-energy building research in Singapore and Zurich, and he still embraces his roots as an Iowan and bicycle mechanic who prefers ideas that can be tested and touched in the real world, not just simulated on a screen.
