Earthbound sits largely as a precursor to modern indie games, not being made by a major studio and leaning heavily on it's quirky, charming nature, while simultaneously innovating on its mechanics and storytelling compared to other similar titles of the time. As an intro to our Season 2 Indie Block, Earthbound gives us an excellent basis from which to start discussing the value of modern indies over AAA properties. Also the game is incredible, but we don't need to tell you that.
