Yana Fay Dzedze is an interdisciplinary artist, forever eager to marry the contradictions of life through her work. Her first book, The Fire in my Belly, journeys a quest to belong in a world of cultural differences. Yana draws on her own life stories to bring a sense of poetic intimacy to those who engage with her. Her words decorate feelings as she thinks out loud through her art and taps into the essence of what it is to journey through life. Deep thinking and enchanted by obscurity, she champions the wholeness of humans and seeks to give others permission to live honestly expressed, curious and full lives. Living in South Africa, Yana lives her life immersed in cultural and racial conversations. She offers a gentle articulation and facilitation of these themes and stands firmly for subtle revolution, made of many small acts of commitment to a better world that amount over time.
