Dustin's story is fascinating in many ways. How does somebody who is a youth pastor and whose entire identity is rooted in faith, church, and the Bible wake up one day as a non-believing atheist? What impact does that have on the rest of his family as they continue their spiritual journey as Christians without Dustin sharing that belief? What is his life like in the Bible belt of South Carolina now that he no longer belongs to the large majority group of Christians living here?
No matter where you personally stand or what you believe in, I think we can all agree that opening up about something as deeply personal as the loss of faith takes great courage. Remember to always be kind.
