Episode 100: What 100 Episodes Taught Me

I honestly can’t believe I’m saying this… welcome to Episode 100 of Drive Time With Matt!

When I started this podcast, I had no idea what it would become. What began as a simple idea turned into a journey filled with stories, lessons, laughter, faith, and more than a few unexpected moments.

In this special milestone episode, I’m reflecting on what I’ve learned over the past 100 episodes. From realizing how much my past has shaped me, to seeing how God continues to refine me, to discovering that you’re never too old to try something new, this episode is a look back at the journey so far.

We’ll talk about the importance of community, the people who have supported me along the way, and why I discovered that many of these episodes were actually messages I needed to hear myself.

Oh, and yes… we’ll also discuss the fact that I apparently have enough crazy stories for several more podcasts—though some may never make it on the air!

Thank you for listening, supporting, sharing, and being part of this journey. Here’s to the first 100 episodes and whatever God has planned for the next 100.

If you’ve enjoyed the podcast, I’d be grateful if you’d leave a review and share it with a friend.

    Let’s hit the road.

  • Called, Not Famous Ep. 99
    Jun 4 2026

In a world obsessed with followers, influence, and going viral, it’s easy to believe that significance comes from being known by more people.

But what if that’s not true?

In this episode of Drive Time with Matt, we explore the difference between being famous and being faithful. We talk about the pressure to build a platform, the dangers of tying our identity to attention, and why God’s definition of success often looks very different from the world’s.

From social media culture to personal calling, this conversation is a reminder that your purpose is not determined by how many people know your name, but by how faithfully you live out what God has called you to do.

Whether you’re raising a family, serving in your church, leading at work, or simply trying to make a difference where God has planted you, this episode will encourage you to stop chasing visibility and start embracing significance.

  • Comparison is Killing Joy Ep.98
    Jun 3 2026

Have you ever been perfectly content with your life… until you started comparing it to someone else’s?

In this episode of Drive Time with Matt, we explore how comparison quietly steals contentment, gratitude, and joy. In a world filled with social media highlight reels, curated success stories, and constant opportunities to measure ourselves against others, it’s easy to feel like we’re falling behind.

But what if the problem isn’t our lives? What if it’s the comparison?

Join Matt as he discusses why comparison is one of the fastest paths to discontentment, how social media fuels the cycle, and why God never intended for us to run someone else’s race. Through personal observations, faith-based insights, and practical encouragement, this episode is a reminder that joy grows when we stop looking sideways and start appreciating the blessings right in front of us.

Because the life God has planned for you doesn’t require comparison—it requires faithfulness.

  • Busy Isn’t Productive Ep.97
    Jun 2 2026

    Busy Isn’t Productive

We live in a culture that celebrates busyness. We wear packed schedules like badges of honor, brag about how overwhelmed we are, and often mistake constant activity for actual accomplishment.

But what if being busy isn’t the same as being productive?

In this episode, Matt explores the difference between motion and progress, why hustle culture leaves so many people exhausted, and how focus, purpose, and intentional living can accomplish more than a life filled with endless distractions.

From overloaded calendars and social media pressure to faith, family, and finding margin in a frantic world, this conversation challenges us to stop measuring our worth by how busy we are and start focusing on what truly matters.

Because at the end of the day, being busy isn’t the goal. Living with purpose is.

  • Has Self-Checkout Gone Too Far? Ep. 96
    Jun 2 2026

    Has Self-Checkout Gone Too Far?

Remember when self-checkout was supposed to make shopping faster and easier? Somewhere along the way, it feels like customers became employees.

In this episode, we’re taking a humorous look at the rise of self-checkout and asking a simple question: Has it gone too far?

From “unexpected item in bagging area” to age-verification approvals, broken scanners, and stores with more self-checkout lanes than cashiers, we’ll explore the frustrations, conveniences, and unintended consequences of our increasingly automated shopping experience.

But beneath the laughs is a bigger conversation about technology, customer service, efficiency, and the human interactions we may be losing along the way.

Whether you love self-checkout or avoid it at all costs, this episode will have you nodding your head, laughing at shared experiences, and maybe looking at that scanner a little differently the next time you’re buying groceries.

So grab your reusable bags and prepare for inspection—because apparently we’re all store employees now.

  • Leaving God Room Ep.94
    May 29 2026

Sometimes we try to control every detail of life — every plan, every outcome, every next step — leaving no room for God to move.

In this episode of Drive Time with Matt, we talk about what it means to leave “God Room.” The space between our effort and God’s provision. The moments where faith requires trust, patience, surrender, and letting go of the need to control everything ourselves.

From personal ambition and anxiety to faith, obedience, and learning to trust God in uncertainty, this episode is a reminder that not every door has to be forced open by us. Sometimes the greatest growth happens when we step back and allow God to work in ways we never could.

If you’ve ever struggled with waiting, trusting, or trying to carry everything on your own, this conversation is for you.

  • The Power of Local People Ep.93
    May 29 2026

What makes a community truly strong?

In this episode of Drive Time with Matt, we dive into the idea that strong communities don’t start with government — they start with people. Families, churches, neighbors, mentors, volunteers, teachers, and everyday individuals willing to care about the places and people around them.

Matt explores the growing disconnect in modern culture, the decline of real neighborhood relationships, and why programs can provide resources but can’t create belonging. From personal responsibility and local involvement to faith, service, and the power of showing up for one another, this episode is an honest and encouraging conversation about what really holds communities together.

Because lasting change doesn’t usually happen from the top down…

it happens from the ground up.
