    This week, we take a look at a selection of newer movies with no set theme.

    The Lineup:

    The Housemaid (2025):
    Directed by Paul Feig. A psychological thriller starring Sydney Sweeney as Millie, a broke former convict hired as a live-in maid for the Winchesters (Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar), who discovers the wealthy couple is hiding secrets. A sequel has been confirmed featuring Kirsten Dunst.

    Backrooms (2026):
    Written and directed by Kane Parsons in his feature debut based on his viral YouTube creepypasta series. Presented largely as 1990 found footage, the film follows Clark (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a divorced furniture store owner, and his therapist Mary (Renate Reinsve) as they navigate an unsettling network of endless passageways through a basement portal.

    The Invite (2026):
    Directed by Olivia Wilde. Centered on two neighboring couples in an apartment building—Joe and Angela (Seth Rogen, Olivia Wilde) and Hawk and Pina (Edward Norton, Penelope Cruz)—whose tense dinner party leads to an unexpected partner-swapping proposal.

    Falling Down (1993):
    Starring Michael Douglas. A recently unemployed defense worker with anger problems goes on a violent rampage throughout Los Angeles to try to make it to his daughter’s birthday party.
