This is episode number 9 of “Live Empowered” with me, your host, Dr. Lisa Summerour. My guest is Robyn Roots. Robyn is a Registered Nurse, Writer, and Producer. She’s also the Director of the award-winning film “2020 Year of the Nurse.” a documentary giving voice to medical practitioners of color as they worked through COVID-19 and black lives matter, and the toll it took on their mental health. In today’s show, Robyn shares how the film, the song, and the book came to be and how she went from nursing to award-winning director during a global pandemic.
