What do you do when the present becomes too difficult to escape?

You go somewhere else.

For Guy Strange, the mind motel has plenty of rooms.

A rubber glove becomes a monstrous hand on a dark country road. A forgotten caravan beside the sea becomes a doorway to childhood. Basking sharks glide through the Clyde. Fighter jets roar overhead. Nuclear submarines disappear beneath the water. Then, years later, Soviet fishing ships arrive, bringing Russian sailors, strange trades and an encounter that might have been an adventure worth taking.

But beneath the humour and memories lies something darker.

Pain. Fatigue. Sleepless nights. Progressive deterioration. The frustration of a body that won't cooperate and a future that offers more questions than answers.
