There's a particular word used in this passage about spiritual armour which we unhelpfully simply translate as 'word', but means a whole load more. We're going to look at some examples of where it's used and what that means there, and hopefully when we find out that believers are handed a sword which belongs to the Holy Spirit and is this RHEMA word - it'll be quite an eye-opener.

When it comes to what we put into our heads, and how we allow our thinking to be either shaped randomly, or purposefully curated ... this passage has quite a lot to say. What's that got to do with spiritual armour?

One key element of our spiritual armour is faith, so in this podcast we look at what faith is, how it's defined in the New Testament, how it's outworked with people in the life of Jesus, where its boundaries might be, and how that could be a shield for us.

There are some things that echo through the whole of the Bible, from the time of Moses, through the time of exile, into the New Testament, and then on into our time too. One of those things is feeling far away from where you should be and how the world should look, but another is the announcement of good news - that God has done something about it! How do those things speak to spiritual armour?

In a world where we fail to live up to the perfect standards we set for ourselves, let alone the standards God might set for individuals, churches, nations ... how could we ever be right with God? And what's this got to do with the spiritual fight in the unseen realm?

As we move through a passage in the New Testament about spiritual armour, we get to the first item on the list - a belt of truth. What might it mean to wrap truth around us for spiritual battles?

One of the guys who established (planted) a load of the first ever churches, wrote to one of those communities to encourage them. He wanted to let them know how they could stand their ground not just against natural oppression and difficulty, but against supernatural attack too. We now call this passage the one about the "Armour of God". So we're going to take 7 episodes to conclude season 4, looking at this passage and seeing what it might tell us today. This is the intro.

Samson is this legendary (infamous) figure in the Old Testament, famous for being super strong and voilent, for his weakness with women and for random killing sprees. But he is used supernaturally by the Spirit of God. So - in this podcast we ask: "If God seems to be moving through me or my church, does that mean we have got things right?". We'll compare Samson to King David, and keep asking that question, and we will see where it lands us.
