A proposito di questo titolo
What is the universal truth of life? I for one have been searching for this answer for a very long time now. But after years and years of searching, I finally realized that the universal truth of life is suffering and pain.
And suffering and pain are all because we have a mind of our own. A mind that is always simulating negative situations, reacting to pain, fear, envy, anger, frustrations… thus adding more sufferings along the way.
When a person says he or she wants freedom, what they actually mean is they want to be free from the clutches of their mind.
Thats why stoics focus all their energy by first embracing that pain and suffering is the universal truth to life. And once they do that, they focus all their power in finding the antidote to such sufferings. And thats where the dichotomy of control comes in.
Stoics differentiate the factors in a given situation which they have control vs the ones they have no control over.
