Daily Devotion with Pastor Balla — July 19, 2026. "Like a Dream When One Awakes" opens Psalm 73:19-21 (ESV) with one of Scripture's most arresting images — the wicked, who looked so solid and untouchable, turning out to be nothing more than a dream God shakes off the moment He rouses Himself. In this Lutheran daily devotional, Pastor Balla explores how eternity has a way of showing what was truly solid and what was only mist all along — and how Jesus, who died and rose again, has already stood in eternity's vantage point and come back to tell us what is really true. Death itself, the thing that looks most permanent and final, is no more lasting than a dream once God acts — and your sin, your guilt, everything that once stood against you was buried in that tomb and stays there. What Jesus accomplished is the one thing in this life that is not a dream. This Bible devotion speaks directly to anyone holding this world's comforts or troubles too tightly. Perfect for morning devotion, personal prayer, or daily Bible study. Subscribe for daily devotionals, confessional Lutheran teaching, and Scripture reflections grounded in God's Word.
