In this episode of Cultural Currents, host Alondra Sanchez sits down with the talented team from Divine Energy Tattoo, a Del Rio-based studio built on passion, art, and community. Co-owners Maricruz and Priscila Salinas and team share how the shop grew from a small one-artist setup into a thriving creative hub featuring artists Chavo Art, Colorful Cass, and Dirty Death Art. Together, they discuss their individual tattoo styles, the art of mentorship, lessons learned through trial and ink, and their mission to make Divine Energy a space where artistry, growth, and good vibes collide

Local artist José Gaitán, also known as Gorditos Creations, joins host Alondra Sanchez on Cultural Currents to share his journey from doodling in class to building a career rooted in Mexican-inspired art. From painting live at weddings to showcasing nostalgic pieces that connect community and family, José reflects on loss, creativity, and finding meaning in art.

Maya Ayres talked with Alondra Sanchez about her journey as a local artist in Del Rio. Maya described growing up in a creative family, experimenting with different mediums, and eventually focusing on illustration and vibrant, neon-colored designs. She explained how keeping a sketchbook helped her develop her style and later inspired her to start the community Sketchbook Club, offering a space for people of all ages to draw, share, and connect.
