Three teams are aiming for two spots. The math shows that only two of the three will get a place, and one will be unhappy. The gravity of this situation is remarkable. Notre Dame got the wrong end of the deal Sunday morning as they and BYU are left out of the Playoff. Once again, ESPN got its way (as it so often does ;). Unfortunately, BYU lost its Big 12 Championship Game to Texas Tech. However, their foundation is set, and their future is bright.
BYU Football will play Georgia Tech in the Pop-Tarts Bowl (Orlando, FL) after Notre Dame once again weaseled out of playing the Cougars. It’s not the first time they’ve done so, but it is a bold statement to stand up to ESPN. The controversy has never been this large in College Football as it was this weekend.
