• 🎙️ Deep Dive Drive – Episode 88: Stop Chasing the Best. Start Chasing Your Best.
    Sep 1 2026

In this episode of Deep Dive Drive, I talk about a mindset that we’re trying to embed across everything we do:

Stop chasing the best. Start chasing YOUR best.

It’s easy to look around at other coaches, clubs, businesses, or organisations and constantly compare yourself.

    Who’s bigger?
    Who’s better?
    Who’s doing more?

But what if we stopped worrying about everyone else and concentrated on becoming the best version of ourselves?

In this episode, I talk about how improvement doesn’t always require huge changes. Sometimes it starts with getting the absolute basics right.

Saying hello to every player who walks into your session.
    Having a genuine conversation.
    Remembering someone’s name.
    Creating a positive environment.
    Delivering the service you promised.
And then looking for those small opportunities to go above and beyond.

    I explore:

    • Why comparison can distract you from your own progress
    • The importance of competing against your own standards
    • Why doing the basics consistently can have a massive impact
    • How small interactions can completely change someone’s experience
    • The difference between doing the bare minimum and taking pride in the minimum
    • Why going above and beyond starts with getting the foundations right
    • How individuals and teams can continually ask: “Can we be better than we were yesterday?”

We don’t necessarily need to be the best coaching company, the best football programme, the best team, or the best coach.

We just need to keep trying to be the best that we can be.

Because when everyone within an organisation starts chasing their own best, collectively, the standards of the whole environment begin to rise.

Don’t chase everyone else. Chase yourself.

    Be better than yesterday.

  • 🎙️ Deep Dive Drive – Episode 87: Are You Changing Your Brand… or Evolving What You Stand For?
    Aug 27 2026

In this episode of Deep Dive Drive, I talk about something we’re currently experiencing first-hand at Complete — a rebrand.

When you’ve built a business over a number of years, your logo and identity carry memories, experiences, relationships, successes, challenges, and plenty of emotion. So deciding to change that isn’t always easy.

But are you really changing who you are… or are you simply evolving what you stand for?

In this episode, I reflect on our decision to move Complete in a new direction — simplifying our look, rebuilding our website, and creating a brand identity that better represents who we are today and where we want to go next.

    I talk about:

    • Why businesses and organisations sometimes need to evolve
    • The emotional attachment we build with an old brand
    • The positives and potential negatives of rebranding
    • Why a brand should represent more than just a logo
    • Building an identity around our eight Complete values
    • Creating something that staff, players, learners, parents, and partners can recognise and believe in
    • Respecting the memories of the old identity while being excited to create new ones

For us, this isn’t about forgetting where we’ve come from.

It’s about taking everything we’ve learned, everything we’ve built, and everything Complete stands for — and creating an identity that represents the next chapter.

Because a brand isn’t just your colours, your logo, or your website.

Your brand is what you stand for.

Respect the past. Evolve the identity. Create new memories.

  • 🎙️ Deep Dive Drive – Episode 86: Control the Controllables — Turning Adversity Into an Advantage
    Aug 25 2026

In this episode of Deep Dive Drive, I explore something every coach, player, and leader will experience:

    Adversity.

Things will go wrong. Decisions will go against you. Players will be unavailable. Performances won’t always be good. Plans will change.

You can’t control everything that happens — but you can control how you respond to it.

In this episode, I talk about how we can stop wasting energy on the things outside of our control and start focusing on the actions, behaviours, and mindset that we can influence.

    I explore:

    • Understanding what is genuinely within your control
    • Why your response to adversity matters more than the adversity itself
    • Turning setbacks into opportunities to learn and improve
    • How difficult moments can build resilience and character
    • Why coaches set the example through their reactions
    • Helping players focus on solutions rather than excuses

Adversity doesn’t always have to be a disadvantage.

Handled in the right way, difficult moments can bring teams closer together, expose areas for improvement, build resilience, and create opportunities that might never have existed otherwise.

You can’t always control the situation.

But you can control what you do next.

Control the controllables. Embrace the challenge. Turn adversity into an advantage.

  • 🎙️ Deep Dive Drive – Episode 85: Are Your Routines Supporting Performance… or Just Filling Time?
    Aug 24 2026

In this episode of Deep Dive Drive, I explore something we all have — whether we realise it or not:

    Routines.

As coaches, players, and leaders, we often repeat the same things because they’ve become familiar. The same preparation. The same warm-ups. The same pre-match habits. The same way we start and finish sessions.

But there’s an important question to ask:

Is that routine actually supporting your performance… or are you just doing it because you’ve always done it?

I talk about the importance of creating routines with purpose, from your morning routine and preparation for the day, through to how you arrive at training, prepare players for sessions, and get yourself ready for matchday.

    I explore:

    • Why good routines create consistency and focus
    • The difference between a routine and a habit
    • How preparation can influence performance before a session even begins
    • Why coaches should regularly question the purpose behind what they do
    • How individual players may need completely different routines to perform at their best
    • When a routine needs changing rather than simply repeating

Routine can be incredibly powerful — but only when there’s a reason behind it.

Don’t just repeat what you’ve always done. Understand why you’re doing it.

Build routines with purpose. Prepare to perform.

  • 🎙️ Deep Dive Drive – Episode 84: When the Buzz Comes Back
    Jun 2 2026

In this episode of Deep Dive Drive, recorded on my morning commute, I talk about something that every coach, manager, and leader will experience at some point in their journey:

    When the buzz comes back.

After stepping away from my role at Frimley Green, I spent time reflecting on what I wanted next, what motivated me, and what sort of environment I wanted to be a part of. Then an opportunity came along that just felt right — the chance to become First Team Manager at Camberley Town F.C..

And suddenly, the buzz was back.

In this episode, I talk about:

    • Why it’s important to listen to yourself when making big decisions
    • Recognising when your energy and passion return
    • The excitement of starting a new challenge
    • Returning to a club that has played such a big part in my football journey
    • The balance between emotion, opportunity, and responsibility when taking on a new role

Camberley Town is a club that means a lot to me personally. It’s where my journey began as a young player, progressing through the youth teams, reserves, and first team. So to return in a leadership position brings a real sense of excitement, pride, and purpose.

This episode is about recognising those moments in life when something just feels right. When the motivation returns. When the ideas start flowing. When you’re excited about what’s ahead.

Because sometimes, after a period of reflection, you realise you haven’t lost the passion — you’ve just been waiting for the right opportunity to reignite it.

New challenge. Fresh energy. The buzz is back.

  • 🎙️ Deep Dive Drive – Episode 83: Are You Rewarding Improvement… or Just Talent?
    Jun 1 2026

In this episode of Deep Dive Drive, recorded on my morning commute, I explore a question that can shape the culture of any team, classroom, or environment:

Are you rewarding improvement… or are you only rewarding talent?

    Talent is easy to spot.

The player who scores the goals.
The player with the best technique.
The player who naturally stands out.

But what about the player who has worked tirelessly to improve? The one who has made huge strides in confidence, effort, attitude, or understanding of the game?

In this episode, I talk about:

    • Why improvement deserves recognition
    • The difference between praising ability and rewarding growth
    • How recognition shapes player behaviour
    • The importance of celebrating effort, commitment, and progress
    • Why focusing solely on talent can discourage long-term development

This episode isn’t about ignoring talented players.
It’s about making sure development is valued just as much as natural ability.

Because talent might get a player ahead today.
But improvement is what keeps them moving forward tomorrow.

If you’re a coach, teacher, parent, or leader, this episode will challenge you to reflect on who gets your attention, your praise, and your recognition.

Reward the growth. Celebrate the journey.

  • 🎙️ Deep Dive Drive – Episode 82: Can You Still See Progress When the Scoreline Hurts?
    May 19 2026

In this episode of Deep Dive Drive, recorded on my morning commute, I reflect on one of the biggest challenges in coaching:

Can you still see progress when the scoreline hurts?

After a difficult result, it’s easy to focus only on the number at the end of the game. The goals conceded, the mistakes made, the disappointment of losing. But sometimes, hidden inside a tough scoreline, there are signs of growth that matter far more than the result.

In this episode, I talk about:

    • Why scorelines don’t always tell the full story
    • How to identify learning moments within difficult games
    • The importance of separating performance from result
    • Why progress can still exist inside setbacks
    • How coaches can help players reflect without losing confidence

This episode isn’t about pretending losses don’t hurt.
    They do.

But if we only measure development by the final score, we risk missing the small wins — the improved decisions, the better reactions, the moments of resilience, and the lessons that shape players long term.

If you’re a coach, parent, or player, this episode is a reminder that progress isn’t always loud, obvious, or reflected on the scoreboard.

Sometimes growth is found in the hardest games.

  • 🎙️ Deep Dive Drive – Episode 81: Is Social Media Hurting the Game… or Preserving the Memories?
    May 12 2026

In this episode of Deep Dive Drive, recorded on my morning commute, I explore a topic that divides opinion across modern football:

Is social media hurting the game… or is it actually preserving the memories that make it special?

From highlight clips and matchday photos to behind-the-scenes moments and player interviews, social media has completely changed the way we experience football. Some believe it creates pressure, distraction, and a focus on image. Others see it as a powerful way to capture journeys, celebrate progress, and build community.

In this episode, I talk about:

    • The positives and negatives of social media within football
    • How content can inspire, connect, and motivate players
    • The pressure that visibility can place on young athletes
    • Why preserving memories and moments has real value
    • The responsibility coaches and clubs have when using platforms online

This episode isn’t about saying social media is good or bad.
It’s about understanding the impact it has — and using it with purpose.

Because years from now, those photos, videos, and moments become part of the journey. They tell stories. They capture memories. They preserve experiences that players and families will look back on forever.

If you’re a coach, parent, player, or club, this episode will challenge you to think about how social media is shaping the game around you.

Use it wisely. Capture the journey.
