    Readers have gone five years without a new novel from New York Times bestselling author Lisa Kleypas. Now the wait is over. Mary Calvi talked to Kleypas about her new novel "Queen of Lombard Street." The book is historical fiction set in Victorian London where a female economist is determined to open a bank for women, but a mysterious man may destroy her dream. Kleypas told Mary that after a successful career writing dozens of historical romances, a health scare prompted her to step out of her comfort zone and take a risk. In 2020, Kleypas discovered a lump in her throat. She says her recovery and isolation during COVID pushed her toward an exhilarating challenge. She says in "Queen of Lombard Street" there is a strong romance, but the point is not whether the couple gets together.
