What does it look like to choose courage when the challenges before us seem overwhelming? In 1 Samuel 14, Jonathan faces seemingly impossible odds against the Philistine army. While others respond with fear or passivity, Jonathan takes a step of faith, trusting not in what he knows God will do, but in what God can do. His courage sets off a chain of events that changes everything.

In this message from our series The Heart God Sees, we explore how courage moves us toward challenges, grows as we trust in God's power, is strengthened by others, and inspires those around us.

Courage isn't about knowing how things will turn out. It's about trusting God enough to take the next step and leaving the results in His hands. Where might God be inviting you to choose courage today?

When life feels out of control, will we trust God—or try to take control ourselves?

In 1 Samuel 13, King Saul faces overwhelming circumstances that test his willingness to trust God's timing and direction. As fear and pressure mount, Saul takes matters into his own hands, revealing how easily our desire for control can lead us away from obedience.

In this message, we explore the contrast between Saul's response and David's heart of trust. Through their stories, we're reminded that trusting God doesn't mean doing nothing—it means choosing to follow Him even when circumstances feel uncertain.

What if the situations that overwhelm us are actually invitations to surrender control, rest in God's faithfulness, and discover the peace that comes from trusting Him?

What happens when our desire for security turns into a desire for control?

In 1 Samuel 12, Israel has the king they asked for—and Samuel reminds them that they already had a King who had been faithful all along. Through every season, God had provided, protected, rescued, and remained with His people. The challenge wasn’t God’s faithfulness; it was their tendency to forget.

In this message, we’re invited to remember who God is and what He has done, return when fear and control pull us away, and trust that He remains on the throne. When we remember God’s character and faithfulness, we can loosen our grip on the things we were never meant to control and find peace in the One who holds it all.

God is King—and we are not. And that is incredibly good news.
