  • 84: There was no stability. It's an illusion... Paul Fioravanti on business turnarounds, finding a job on LinkedIn, and the growth from early 30's to mid 50's
    Nov 22 2023

"I became resilient because I realized that there was no stability. It's an illusion."

Today we're joined by Paul Fioravanti, CEO of Qorval Partners. When I sat down with Paul today, I could tell he knew his shit. I got the feeling like he's been working at his craft for a long time and has a deep well of knowledge and life experiences to pull from, and I was curious to know if his demeanor was something he was born with or developed over time. In the first half of the podcast, we cover some of the basics of what Paul does at Qorval. In the second half, we dive into more personal topics on how his view of life, working, opportunities, etc. has changed from the time he was in his 30's until now. Paul has been turning businesses around for over a decade. He will step in as an Interim CEO to solve issues around financials, operations, or sales/marketing. If you're in your mid 20's to mid 30's and you have a drive to do something great with your life and career, but you struggle with the feeling like you need to be constantly doing something to move closer to your goals... don't miss this one. I had a blast doing this and I hope you enjoy listening. Check out his website at https://qorval.com/ Connect with him on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/paulfioravanti1

So at some point in time, I became a different person. I became resilient because I realized that. Uh, there was no stability. It's an illusion." Nov 16 2023

A recent guest explained Warren Buffett's 5/25 Rule to me: You have 5 main goals you're pursuing at any given time, and 25 sub-goals that distract from your ability to accomplish your main 5.I think it's true. • 81: Self Censored
    Nov 8 2023

Self-censorship has been on my mind lately. We see the censoring apparatus at work more obviously than ever as some of our favorite podcasters, YouTube channels, Instagram accounts have episodes or videos pulled down, fact check icons show up below their posts, etc. We've seen the censorship around the last election, and with Robert F. Kennedy having multiple episodes of podcasts pulled down just by being a guest, it's very obvious to everyone that your words are being watched in some way. I worry about the impact that has on peoples' willingness to speak their mind and say what they think is true. I know it has an impact on me, not just on my public facing work, but also when I write anything, text, capture my thoughts in a Google Doc or an Evernote. It's not that someone's there over your shoulder looking at every word, it's just that it's all being compiled, and then suddenly and seemingly arbitrarily, you're receiving a notification that your episode or post has been pulled. It starts to build a self-imposed straight jacket on your mind over time, and it's just frustrating. Thanks for checking out the new acoustic EP.
