CMPD Chief Estella Patterson went on the record about the officers' group text: three of the six officers have resigned, a chain-of-command board unanimously recommended firing all six, and she says the thread showed racial, sexual and religious bias. The final firing decision belongs to the Civil Service Board, and defense attorneys say cases these officers built could now be in question. Also today: Atrium Health's $340 million behavioral health plan, including a 168-bed hospital in University City, and why the Southern Christmas Show may be losing its home of nearly 60 years. Plus the Charlotte Chalk Art Festival in NoDa this weekend, free.
