1. Primary Sources of Information
Historians reconstruct this era using two main categories of evidence:
Literary Sources
The Rigveda: The oldest religious text in the world, composed of 1,028 hymns divided into 10 books (Mandalas).
The Vedas: The word Veda means "knowledge". The text was preserved orally through generation to generation, known as Shruti ("that which is heard").
Archaeological Sources
Iron Artifacts: Iron weapons and tools discovered from this era confirm the technological transition.
Pottery: Ochre Coloured Pottery (OCP) and Grey Ware artifacts provide physical evidence of early Aryan settlements.
