  • Former Celtic Captain Jackie McNamara / The Current State of Play at Celtic
    Jan 22 2026

    #celticfc #celticsoul #podcast

Former Celtic Captain Jackie McNamara joins Andrew Milne to talk about the current state of play at Celtic and the return of his former manager Martin O’Neill to the Celtic dugout.

He tells us how he was surprised to see his former manager return to the Celtic dugout after Brendan Rodgers left but giving the Wilfried Nancy saga he was not surprised that he is back until the end of the season.

It is refreshing to hear a former player who really understands the Celtic fans frustration and why everyone at Celtic should be accountable for their actions from players, managers and board members.

He thinks Celtic should be looking towards a feeder club in another league to feed players and even managers into Celtic.

The Bhoy also looks back at his time at Celtic working under Tommy Burns, Stopping the 10 under Wim Jansen and the success under Martin O’Neill and quality of players at the club and across the city at Ibrox during that period.

Jackie also talks about losing his best players during his time as Dundee United Manager including his front 3 moving to Celtic in the January transfer window after they had beaten Celtic at Tannadice.

  • CELTIC FC WHAT IS THE SHORT TERM PLAN & A LONGTERM BLUEPRINT?
    Jan 6 2026

    #celticfc #celticnews #celticpodcast #celticsoul

More than 90 Minutes Editor Andrew Milne is joined by Glasgow Journalist Michael Pringle. Micheal has followed Celtic home and away since the the late 1970’s. He currently stands in the North Curve Section of the stadium where the Green Brigade ban continues and they were missed on Saturday especially in the second half when all we could hear was the rangers fans up to their knees celebrating 3 goals.

There is much chat about on this episode of Celtic Soul Podcast as the Celtic Soap Opera continues to play out with Martin O’Neill and Shaun Maloney returning to the Celtic dugout after Wilfried Nancy’s short stay in Glasgow came to an end after 2 wins in 8 games the Celtic board finally woke up after the rangers defeat on Saturday realised that the Titanic was heading for the iceberg and sacked Nancy his back room team and head of football recruitment Paul Tisdale on Monday.

Michael Nicholson must regret his Celtic TV interview on the day Nancy arrived and it has come back to bite him in the arse. The under pressure Celtic CEO told us Nancy was the man the No.1 candidate. They got their man and they had been aware of him for a long time.

A big shout out to Glasgow band The Wakes for their continued support of the podcast and the fanzine.

  • VOICES FROM INSIDE The hidden journals of Long Kesh
    Dec 2 2025

While much has been written on the experience of republican prisoners during the conflict from 1969 onwards there has been comparatively less attention paid to writing produced by the prisoners themselves. There was a vibrant culture of education and debate inside the cages of Long Kesh, but while we have many second-hand accounts of this, relatively few copies of journals produced by the prisoners have survived.

Luckily, Paddy McMenamin not only edited one of these journals for a period, but managed, with the help of his family, to smuggle several issues out. Reproduced here, they provide a fascinating snapshot of the debates taking place amongst just one group of Provisional IRA prisoners in cages 10/18 between 1974 & 1976. There is politics of course, global and local, but also history, culture, sport and craic. Despite the official narrative of the time, it is clear these young men were neither 'mindless terrorists' nor 'criminals'!

The author has done all those interested in our history a service by keeping the journals safe.

His commentary reminds us not only of the horror and tragedy of the time, but also that these young men were grappling with how to make sense of the conflict they had been thrown into. This book is an important contribution to understanding the politics of modern republicanism.
