  • Is This All There Is? Finding Your Purpose After 50 with Kavita Ahuja
    Nov 5 2026
Have you ever looked at your life and thought, "I've worked so hard to get here, so why does something still feel missing?"Maybe you've built a successful career, raised a family or spent years being the person everyone depends on.But lately, there's been a little voice asking, "Is this really what I want for the rest of my life?"If that sounds familiar, this conversation is for you.In this episode of Casa De Confidence, I'm joined by Kavita Ahuja, career and life transitions coach, host of the Midlife Reinvention Podcast and founder of It's My Time Now Coaching. After 25 years in the pharmaceutical industry, Kavita began questioning whether the comfortable life she'd built was still the life she wanted. Her journey led her to rediscover her purpose after 50 and begin helping other women navigate their own transitions. And let me tell you, we had a lot in common.I share how my own transition began when I was laid off during COVID after a long corporate career. Losing that job was difficult because so much of my identity had been connected to the work I did.Kavita and I talk about what happens when the roles we've played for years no longer fit, and why we sometimes wait until we're completely burned out before giving ourselves permission to make a change. We also explore Ikigai, the Japanese concept of a reason for being, and how understanding what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs and what can bring abundance into your life can help you discover your next chapter. One of my favorite parts of our conversation is Kavita's explanation of the difference between change and transition.Because sometimes we change our circumstances without ever asking why we're unhappy in the first place. And yes, I somehow manage to bring our living room couch into that conversation! In This Episode, We DiscussWhy Kavita decided to reinvent herself after 50The little voice that tells us something in our lives needs to changeHow career transitions and unexpected layoffs can affect our identityWhat Ikigai means and how to begin discovering your ownWhy your purpose can change throughout your lifeHow to recognize the strengths and accomplishments you tend to overlookWhy high achievers struggle to celebrate their progressThe difference between changing your circumstances and making a meaningful transitionWhy burnout may be a signal that it's time to pauseHow to reconnect with yourself when you've spent years putting others firstKavita's Pyramid of Reinvention and the importance of values, vision and small actionsHow to recognize your strengths through the eyes of people who know youWhy confidence grows when your actions align with who you areSimple questions you can ask yourself when life feels like it's on autopilotA Question to Take With YouIf you stopped defining yourself by your job, your business or the roles you play for others, who would you be?You don't have to have the answer today. But perhaps it's time to start asking.🔗 Connect with KavitaWebsite: https://itsmytimenowcoaching.com/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kavita-ahuja-coach/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/itsmytimenowcoachingInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/itsmytimenow.coaching/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@itsmytimenowcoaching🔗 Free Offer45 minute free consultation with Kavita: https://calendly.com/itsmytimenowcoaching/45-minute-discovery-callFind out what is blocking you from moving forward in your life with confidence, and strategies to remove these blocks from your life: https://itsmytimenowcoaching.com/release-your-negative-energy-blocks/?src=podcastDiscover how fulfilled you really are in your current career & life, and strategies to become more fulfilled: https://kavita-ahuja.scoreapp.com/I want to hear your thoughts about the show and this episode. • Why Successful Women Feel They Have to Prove Themselves
    Oct 29 2026
Have you ever been the woman everyone counts on?The one who figures things out, takes on the extra responsibility and somehow always finds a way to get it done? And have you ever stopped to wonder what all that proving is costing you?My guest on this episode of Casa De Confidence is Sam Jump, mindset mentor and founder of Powerhouses With Purpose. After spending 15 years working across different leadership environments, Sam saw firsthand what happens when capable women become the people everyone depends on, often without boundaries around their time, energy or well-being.She experienced that pattern herself, and it eventually contributed to burnout.Sam and I talk about the expectations women carry into leadership, the ways we silence ourselves to appear professional and why being successful doesn't automatically mean we feel confident. We also explore something that really hit home for me: how often we're following someone else's values without even realizing it.Sam asks a question worth considering. If you haven't consciously chosen the values guiding your decisions, whose values are you following? That question leads us into a conversation about self-trust, the stories we tell ourselves and the difference between being disciplined and constantly pushing ourselves at any cost.I also share a recent experience judging a prestigious Connecticut award and finding myself in a room full of accomplished people, wondering whether I belonged there.Yes, even after everything I've accomplished, those thoughts still show up.Sam offers a practical place to begin when those old patterns take over, and we talk about why five minutes of stillness can help us notice the thoughts we've been operating from.We also get into journaling, over-apologizing and what it means to become your own biggest supporter. What You'll HearWhy successful women often become the people everyone relies onHow over-proving can contribute to burnoutThe difference between performing leadership and leading from your valuesHow to recognize when you're following someone else's expectationsWhy women sometimes dim their light in the name of professionalismWhat your emotional reactions can reveal about your personal valuesHow to begin noticing stress and discomfort in your bodyWhy boundaries don't always have to be rigid to be effectiveThe role of supportive relationships in building confidenceWhat Sam says about fear when you're stepping into something newMy own experience questioning whether I belonged in a room full of accomplished leadersA five-minute practice for becoming more aware of self-sabotaging thoughtsWhy self-discipline doesn't have to mean punishing yourselfHow journaling can help you rewrite the stories you tell yourselfThe problem with apologizing when you've done nothing wrongSam's definition of confidence and how she encourages herself to keep goingA Question to Take With YouWhere in your life are you still trying to prove that you deserve to be there? And what might change if you stopped treating your worth as something you have to earn?🔗 Connect with SamWebsite: https://www.powerhouseswithpurpose.com/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/samanthajump/Email: connect@powerhouseswithpurpose.com🔗 Free OfferGrab Sam's free guide, 5 Mindset Traps Keeping You From Leading With Power & Integrity, and start rewiring the patterns keeping you overextended, reactive, and stuck in survival mode: https://www.powerhouseswithpurpose.com/pwp-5-mindset-traps-guideI want to hear your thoughts about the show and this episode. • Who Are You Without Your Job Title? Reinventing Yourself in Midlife with Marianne DeMello-Smith
    Oct 22 2026
What happens when the career you've built for decades is no longer the life you want? For years, Marianne DeMello-Smith poured herself into her corporate career. She built relationships, developed leadership skills and created an identity around the work she did. But after organizational changes and a growing disconnect between her career and her personal priorities, she found herself facing a question she hadn't expected.Who am I without my job?In this episode of Casa De Confidence, I sit down with my friend and fellow New England podcaster Marianne DeMello-Smith, creator of Message in the Middle, to talk about what it really means to reinvent yourself in midlife.Marianne shares what happened when she stepped away from her longtime career and intentionally took six months to figure out what came next. We talk about the fear of losing your identity, the importance of transferable skills and why the experiences you've collected throughout your life are more valuable than you might realize. We also explore the habits that helped Marianne make lasting changes to her health, why she's abandoned all-or-nothing thinking and how she's learned to create a life that better reflects her priorities. And yes, I share my own slightly disastrous return to roller skating, which turned into a surprisingly useful lesson about being willing to become a beginner again. One of my favorite parts of this conversation is when Marianne explains why she wants her grandchildren to be able to watch her podcast long after she's gone. For her, reinvention is about the life she's living now and the example she's leaving behind. What You'll HearWhy leaving a longtime corporate career can feel like losing part of yourselfHow Marianne used a six-month career break to reconnect with what matteredWhy your professional skills don't disappear when you change directionA simple childhood reflection exercise to rediscover what brings you joyWhat my roller-skating experience taught me about starting overWhy being uncomfortable is sometimes necessary for personal growthHow Marianne moved away from all-or-nothing thinking about healthy habitsWhat work-life balance actually looks like when your priorities changeHow vision boards and regular self-reflection can keep you connected to your goalsWhy small, courageous steps matter more than dramatic reinventionThe legacy Marianne hopes to leave her grandchildrenOne question every woman should ask herself in midlifeWhether you're considering a career change, navigating an unexpected transition or simply wondering what else might be possible, Marianne's story is a reminder that your next chapter can begin right where you are.🔗 Connect with Marianne Website: https://www.messageinthemiddle.com/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/marianne-demello-smith-678b9966/https://www.linkedin.com/company/106193706/admin/dashboard/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/422430469323847I want to hear your thoughts about the show and this episode.
