What happens when the motivation to work harder becomes the reason you're afraid to rest? In this episode, I reflect on my changing perspective on hustle culture, motivational content, and what experiencing burnout has taught me about balance.__Episode SummaryIn this episode of Pose and Purpose™, I reflect on my changing perspective on hustle culture, motivational content, and the mentality of constantly working harder.I've always been a huge fan of motivational content, particularly YouTube motivational speeches and motivational quotes. I share why this type of content has been such a significant part of my self-development journey, while also discussing how my recent experience with burnout has made me look at some of these messages differently.I talk about motivational content centred around messages such as “OUTWORK EVERYONE,” “WORK IN SILENCE,” “NOBODY CARES,” and “WORK HARDER.” While these messages can be motivating in the short term, I've realised that constantly consuming this mentality can become difficult in the long term when you begin to fear rest and feel like it's always time to work, work, work.I also reflect on my love of male motivational content and its more masculine energy, while acknowledging that some of these messages may have contributed to my burnout. I share why I'm not blaming motivational content for my burnout, but am instead becoming more aware of the type of motivational content I choose to consume.__Key Takeaways• Motivational content can be powerful, but its impact can differ in the short and long term.• Constantly consuming “work harder” messages can contribute to a fear of rest.• Rest and self-care are essential to producing your finest work.• You don't have to reject ambition or motivation to create more balance.• Becoming aware of the content you consume is key• This is simply my perspective and my experience with hustle culture and burnout.__TimestampsRead the full chapters of this episode here:https://cjmafat06.wixsite.com/poseandpurposepod/about-501:38 — Social Media Motivational Content02:41 — Hustle Culture Content03:57 — Masculine Energy05:24 — My Personal Perspective05:45 — Rest Is Essential06:01 — Unconscious Beliefs & Perfectionism06:38 — I Still Love Motivational Content07:24 — Becoming Aware of the Message08:23 — Ambition Isn't the Problem09:04 — The Gym Analogy09:51 — Work Hard, Play Hard10:27 — Schedule Breaks & Rest__Resources & Links• Website:https://cjmafat06.wixsite.com/poseandpurposepod• Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/cjmafat• TikTok:https://www.tiktok.com/@cjmafatPlease Note: Pose and Purpose’s Blog, Merch, and Newsletter are still available.
